Generally, the learning license is issued for one year. From 2009 a long time has elapsed and, therefore, you will have to apply for a fresh learning license. After 42 days of issuance of license, you can apply for a permanent driving license. Learning license fee is between 100/- and 150/- only.

Please visit the license branch with photocopy of your lost license and original CNIC. If you don’t have photocopy or the number of license, you can show only CNIC to them. From your CNIC number, the staff of license branch will easily search your license number in their computer.
Although, your license is expiring in February-2023, the license branch will renew your license for 3 or 5 years with a new expiry date.

Your license of motorcycle cannot be renewed because now you wish to get Car+Motorcycle license. Please apply for Car+Motorcycle Learning License. Although, the learning license is issued for one year, but after 42 days you can apply for permanent license.
The fee for learning license is Rs.150/- and for the 5-year permanent license is Rs.1,860/- only.

Learning license one year kay liay hota hay lekin 42 days kay baad aap permanent license kay liay apply kar saktay hain. Driving tau aap ko aati hi hay, isliay aap permanent license ka test aasaani say pass kar laingay aur aap ka Multan ka permanent license ban jaega.

It is not in our knowledge that license may be renewed on the same day. However, what you can do is that please visit your nearest License Branch and request them for issuance of license same day. If they don’t agree, you may request them to accept your application for renewal and allow you to authorise any friend/ family member for receiving the license. Normally, the license branch sends the license at home address.

Booklet driving license can be converted into smart card driving license. This license was not issued in Karachi, therefore it is possible that Karachi License Authority will take some small tests of your driving. Then they will definitely issue smart card license to you.

Due to Punjab’s address on your CNIC, perhaps your license will not be renewed in Karachi. However, you can try in Karachi because sometimes they give exemptions according to the situation.
It is more better if you now get license from Punjab. You may apply in Punjab for renewal of Karachi’s license. Either they will renew it after taking some basic driving tests or they will issue a new driving license to you. If they issue a new license, you must always keep safe with you the license which was issued in Karachi. This Karachi’s expired license will show your seniority in the field of driving.

There is no system of lifetime issuance of driving license. They will issue license for 3 or 5 years. Whenever you visit license branch, please take with you original CNIC, License and Passport. They will guide you for the process of International Driving License.

License ki photocopy aap kay paas hay tau theek, warna aap khood bhi License Branch jaa saktay hain aur woh computer data kay zaryay aap ka license number nikaal laingay. Kharcha taqreeban 2500/- say 3000/- kay darmiyan aega.

Actually license branch has no system of issuing token / appointment in advance. But, there is no problem at all for taking the appointment. There is no rush of people for this purpose. Absolutely good dealing staff, I went there as per your points for my LTV renewal, it takes maximum 30 to 40 mins to complete the whole process including Token, data entry, fees, photo taken, eye test, binding old card and submit it to last counter for temporarily slip for 10 days driving. I went to renew my license in TOWNSHIP TRRAFIC POLICE department , but they refused to renew it from there , they said “APKA LICENCE KARACHI SY HI RENEW HOGA”

The Traffic Police Department of each province has different rules. They are final authority and we have to follow their rules. However, we would like to suggest the following to help resolve your issue:-
(1) Please try again for license renewal at any other Driving License Branch in Lahore. If they don’t renew it, request them for a fresh Permanent Driving License of Lahore.
(2) If they don’t issue a fresh Permanent Driving License of Lahore, please apply for a Learner’s Driving License. This license is always issued for one year. But, as per their rules, after 42 days of issuance you become eligible for a Permanent License. Now, apply for Permanent License and we hope you are already able to pass all tests which may be taken by License Authorities.

In Pakistan, please send any friend or family member to any Driving License Branch. At reception or “Information Counter” he will tell your problem. The staff of License Branches is very cooperative and they will fully guide your friend.

Your license can be renewed after paying fees from year 2006. We think you will pay following fees:-
From 2006 to 2011 = 1860
From 2011 to 2016 = 1860
From 2016 to 2021 = 1860
Total Fees = 5580
This fees may be more or less from 5,580/-, but no big difference. If your right eye is lazy and weak, no problem, you can tell them that it is weak by birth. But first you will try to read the Eye Testing Board. We think it is not so big problem.

Answer # 2 : Your Learning License was basically for Car+Motorcycle. However, you can apply directly for Permanent License of LTV+Motorcycle. They will take your LTV and Motorcycle test. After clearing the test, you will be issued the required license.

Please contact any Driving License Branch and give them a photocopy of your license. It is possible that License Branch will renew your license, because it was already expired in July 2019. Otherwise, they will ask you to lodge FIR in police station that your original license is lost. Then you will submit photocopies of FIR and your CNIC. Also please keep your original CNIC with you. Now, Branch will renew your license.

In future, if you decide to shift Islamabad then you can apply in Islamabad for a new driving license. You will surrender your Karachi’s license to the Driving License Branch. They will issue a new license to you with your Islamabad’s temporary address (your permanent address is Mianwali).

We suggest that you please visit Karachi’s any Driving License Branch for renewal of license. Take with you the original license and your original CNIC with their photocopies. Sir,I visited nazimabad branch on 13th July for renewal of license.I submitted fees & follow the protocols.Medical doctor failed me during eye testing but I have no problem,I also checked with eye specialist & no problem.My slip color is fade & only I can view date.What can I do to make renewal & fees will be charged again or not.

About four months have passed. Medical Doctor failed you in eye testing. But there is no problem and you can again show them your slip/ receipt. From the date of slip, they will search your name in their computer. We think your previous fees is still valid.

It is better that you show them your eye-specialist’s card and tell them that you have changed your glasses and now you can read all alphabets on the board. We hope they cannot fail you again and you will get your renewed license.

There is no problem if your driving license is accidentally broken into two pieces. You may go to your nearest License Branch and get renewed license whether it is Learning or Permanent.
DOCUMENTS REQUIRED :
. Your original CNIC and One Photocopy
. Broken original driving license (Learning or Permanent, whatever it is)
. Photocopy of broken license (also keep its photocopy with you for record)
STEPS:
. On first counter, show your CNIC and get Token Number
. On Data-Entry Counter, your Token Number will be called
. Data Entry Staff will type your all data in computer
. Please pay the License Fee on next counter
. On another counter, your photograph & eye-test will be taken
. On renewal of license, your Driving Test will not be taken again
. Give broken Driving License on the counter
. Now, a receipt will be given to you which allows driving for 7 days

There is no need of your attested photograph for renewal of driving license. It was an old system when driving license was issued in the shape of Book. Now, driving license is issued by Traffic Police in the shape of Card.
Please just go to any nearest license branch with your old license and your original CNIC. You will see the following steps:-

Please inform your relative that driving license in book form is still valid, but you know many traffic policemen do not understand this and they insist for license in a card form. We cannot fight with them.
Therefore, it is better to convert your license in card form. For this purpose, please contact your nearest Driving License Branch. On the Information Counter, they will guide you about procedure which is simple. You will pay fee and they will issue your relative a license, valid for 3 or 5 years.

It is not mentioned anywhere by Traffic Police Department that how earliest we can renew our license. But, it is better if we renew it one month earlier before expiry.
In case, your driving license is lost or theft, the Traffic Police Department will make your new license for the next 3 or 5 years.

What happens if you fail the eye test while renewing license? Can you apply again after some interval?

If you fail the Eye Test, Driving License Branch will just ask you to consult any Eye Specialist. If there is any problem to your eyes, as cataract, swelling, etc., please get proper treatment. After cure, you will have to bring doctor’s certificate for License Branch that your eyes are now well and you can drive easily.
If you have problem of only your glasses’ numbers, get new glasses with your exact sight-numbers and approach License Branch. There is no limit of time by License Branch. Whenever your eyes are fit, please contact them and get your Driving License renewed. No further fees you have to deposit.

We asked our friends in Australia about your scenario and they said that if your Pakistani License is 3 years old and recently expired then you’ll need to obtain NOC from Foreign Affairs Office. After that you’ll be able to apply for Australian Driving License.
We got another reply from our friend in Australia:
“Agr woh banda aus ka full license lena chahta ha pakistani license ki base per to license valid hona chahye aur atleast 3 saal purana hona chahye. Phr traffice police office se aik letter bane ga us license k lia aur phir woh letter karachi main foreign office se attest hoga ftc k barabar main jo ha. Phr woh letter embassy main jama hoga aur embassy letter bana kar degi. Phr us letter ki base per woh yahan test de kar full license le sakta ha.”. In short, I think it’s not possible for you to get it done from Sydney.
However, please also check with your other references, because we haven’t got any info from official channel.

We are not 100% sure about this scenario but since you have valid CNIC Address of Karachi then please visit your nearest License branch with your original CNIC and Lahore’s Driving License. They might need some additional documents that we aren’t sure about.
Currently they are sending Driving Licenses via TCS courier service all over Karachi and you have Karachi address written on your CNIC so we assume that you’ll get your Driving License at your address in Karachi.

When did the old Driving License expired? They will probably charge you late fee that is calculated on annual basis. Please ask him to visit nearest office branch with his Original NIC and Old Driving License book. The officers are helpful and they will guide your father about the necessary steps.

Have you lodged FIR for your OLD driving license? Please visit your nearest license branch with your original CNIC and copy of FIR. They will calculate the penalty amount from 2015 to 2018 and tell you total fee. There will be no driving license test again but you’ll need to pass the medical (eye) test.

Aap kay CNIC pay Rawalpindi ka address hay, isliay shaayad Karachi say bhi license renew na ho sakay. Sab say behtar yehi hay keh yahaan Pindi/Islamabad main hi renew karwanay ki koshish karain. Driving kay kuch bunyaadi test lay ker yeh log aap ko ya tau renew kar daingay ya phir naya license jaari kardaingay.
Agar yahaan aap ko renew nahi kartay aur naya license jaari kartay hain tau aap hamesha Karachi ka expired license sambhaal kay rakhain. Karachi ka license show karega keh aap new driver nahi hain balkeh expert aur puraanay driver hain.

Due to Punjab’s address on your CNIC, perhaps your license will not be renewed in Karachi. However, you can try in Karachi because sometimes they give exemptions according to the situation.
It is more better if you now get license from Punjab. You may apply in Punjab for renewal of Karachi’s license. Either they will renew it after taking some basic driving tests or they will issue a new driving license to you. If they issue a new license, you must always keep safe with you the license which was issued in Karachi. This Karachi’s expired license will show your seniority in the field of driving.

Actually license branch has no system of issuing token / appointment in advance. But, there is no problem at all for taking the appointment. There is no rush of people for this purpose. You must not have to worry about the appointment and, after reaching Karachi, you may please get appointment one day earlier.

Your Motorcycle & Motor-car license was renewed upto 21.07.2008. Now, you can renew your license easily. The Driving License Branch will take from you the license fees from year 2008. The total fees (with penalty) may be nearly Rs.4,000. Please go to your nearest License Branch with your original CNIC and original Driving License.
You will receive by TCS your new license within seven days at your address.

Your license is expired and lost but you can renew your license. Please go to any Driving License Branch and show them photocopy or license number. They will take from you Affidavit for renewal of license. Otherwise, they will ask FIR. Then please get FIR from police station and show the FIR to License Branch. They will renew your license.

Absolutely good dealing staff, I went there as per your points for my LTV renewal, it takes maximum 30 to 40 mins to complete the whole process including Token, data entry, fees, photo taken, eye test, binding old card and submit it to last counter for temporarily slip for 10 days driving. I wish all of departments will be corruption free in future Insha’Allah.

I went to renew my license in TOWNSHIP TRRAFIC POLICE department , but they refused to renew it from there , they said “APKA LICENCE KARACHI SY HI RENEW HOGA”

The Traffic Police Department of each province has different rules. They are final authority and we have to follow their rules. However, we would like to suggest the following to help resolve your issue:-
(1) Please try again for license renewal at any other Driving License Branch in Lahore. If they don’t renew it, request them for a fresh Permanent Driving License of Lahore.
(2) If they don’t issue a fresh Permanent Driving License of Lahore, please apply for a Learner’s Driving License. This license is always issued for one year. But, as per their rules, after 42 days of issuance you become eligible for a Permanent License. Now, apply for Permanent License and we hope you are already able to pass all tests which may be taken by License Authorities.

I am overseas pakistani. My licence was expired in 2016 which was issued from Jamshoro Sindh. Now we are moved to karachi but still CNIC having Hyderabad address. Can i renew my licence from Karachi or i have to visit Jamshoro.

It would be more better if you firstly bring your Karachi address on your CNIC. For changing your CNIC address from Jamshoro to Karachi, the Utility Bills (on your name) and the Juvenile Card of your child will be useful to you.
If you do not want to change the address in your CNIC now, then please visit any Driving License Branch in Karachi with following documents:-
1) Your original CNIC
2) Your original Driving License (issued from Jamshoro)
3) Original Utility Bills (on your name) with photocopies
4) Original Juvenile Card of your child, with photocoy

Your license can be renewed after paying fees from year 2006. We think you will pay following fees:-
From 2006 to 2011 = 1860
From 2011 to 2016 = 1860
From 2016 to 2021 = 1860
Total Fees = 5580
This fees may be more or less from 5,580/-, but no big difference. If your right eye is lazy and weak, no problem, you can tell them that it is weak by birth. But first you will try to read the Eye Testing Board. We think it is not so big problem.

For this purpose, you may please send any of your blood-relative as father, mother, brother or sister to a Driving License Branch nearest to your residence in Karachi. They must take with them the following items:-

2) Your original CNIC / NICOP (if original is not available, then its photocopy)
3) Your original International Driving License (no problem if it has expired)

We suggest that you please visit Karachi’s any Driving License Branch for renewal of license. Take with you the original license and your original CNIC with their photocopies. They will say that your license will be sent on your address within 7 days, but normally license comes after one or two days by courier service.

Sir,I visited nazimabad branch on 13th July for renewal of license.I submitted fees & follow the protocols.Medical doctor failed me during eye testing but I have no problem,I also checked with eye specialist & no problem.My slip color is fade & only I can view date.What can I do to make renewal & fees will be charged again or not.

About four months have passed. Medical Doctor failed you in eye testing. But there is no problem and you can again show them your slip/ receipt. From the date of slip, they will search your name in their computer. We think your previous fees is still valid.

It is better that you show them your eye-specialist’s card and tell them that you have changed your glasses and now you can read all alphabets on the board. We hope they cannot fail you again and you will get your renewed license.

First of all, we are sorry for late reply due to some domestic reasons.
There is no problem if your driving license is accidentally broken into two pieces. You may go to your nearest License Branch and get renewed license whether it is Learning or Permanent.
DOCUMENTS REQUIRED :
. Your original CNIC and One Photocopy
. Broken original driving license (Learning or Permanent, whatever it is)
. Photocopy of broken license (also keep its photocopy with you for record)
STEPS:
. On first counter, show your CNIC and get Token Number
. On Data-Entry Counter, your Token Number will be called
. Data Entry Staff will type your all data in computer
. Please pay the License Fee on next counter
. On another counter, your photograph & eye-test will be taken
. On renewal of license, your Driving Test will not be taken again
. Give broken Driving License on the counter
. Now, a receipt will be given to you which allows driving for 7 days
. You will get your new license within 7 days on your address by TCS

There is no need of your attested photograph for renewal of driving license. It was an old system when driving license was issued in the shape of Book. Now, driving license is issued by Traffic Police in the shape of Card.
Please just go to any nearest license branch with your old license and your original CNIC. You will see the following steps:-
. On first counter, show your CNIC and get Token Number
. On Data-Entry Counter, your Token Number will be called
. Data Entry Staff will type your all data in computer
. Pay the License Fee on next counter
. On next counter, your photograph & eye-test will be taken
. On renewal of license, your Driving Test is not taken again
. Return the old Driving License on the counter
. Now, a receipt is given which allows you to drive for 7 days

Please inform your relative that driving license in book form is still valid, but you know many traffic policemen do not understand this and they insist for license in a card form. We cannot fight with them.
Therefore, it is better to convert your license in card form. For this purpose, please contact your nearest Driving License Branch. On the Information Counter, they will guide you about procedure which is simple. You will pay fee and they will issue your relative a license, valid for 3 or 5 years.

Please contact again the Information-Counter at the Driving License Branch and tell your problem. They will check your name, address and other data in the computer. If they do not find your data in computer, they will guide you. You will pay necessary fee and Driving Branch will make your license for 3 or 5 years.

It is not mentioned anywhere by Traffic Police Department that how earliest we can renew our license. But, it is better if we renew it one month earlier before expiry.
In case, your driving license is lost or theft, the Traffic Police Department will make your new license for the next 3 or 5 years.

You can renew your license at Karachi. For this purpose, you will have to come Karachi and contact any Driving License Branch. They will take the fees for license and they will also take from you the penalty charges from year 2012 to 2020.

What happens if you fail the eye test while renewing license? Can you apply again after some interval?

If you fail the Eye Test, Driving License Branch will just ask you to consult any Eye Specialist. If there is any problem to your eyes, as cataract, swelling, etc., please get proper treatment. After cure, you will have to bring doctor’s certificate for License Branch that your eyes are now well and you can drive easily.
If you have problem of only your glasses’ numbers, get new glasses with your exact sight-numbers and approach License Branch. There is no limit of time by License Branch. Whenever your eyes are fit, please contact them and get your Driving License renewed. No further fees you have to deposit.

Since we aren’t linked to any official Government channel we can’t fully authenticate this info however we try our best to get the correct information.
We asked our friends in Australia about your scenario and they said that if your Pakistani License is 3 years old and recently expired then you’ll need to obtain NOC from Foreign Affairs Office. After that you’ll be able to apply for Australian Driving License.
We got another reply from our friend in Australia:
“Agr woh banda aus ka full license lena chahta ha pakistani license ki base per to license valid hona chahye aur atleast 3 saal purana hona chahye. Phr traffice police office se aik letter bane ga us license k lia aur phir woh letter karachi main foreign office se attest hoga ftc k barabar main jo ha. Phr woh letter embassy main jama hoga aur embassy letter bana kar degi. Phr us letter ki base per woh yahan test de kar full license le sakta ha.”. In short, I think it’s not possible for you to get it done from Sydney.
However, please also check with your other references, because we haven’t got any info from official channel.

We are not 100% sure about this scenario but since you have valid CNIC Address of Karachi then please visit your nearest License branch with your original CNIC and Lahore’s Driving License. They might need some additional documents that we aren’t sure about.
Currently they are sending Driving Licenses via TCS courier service all over Karachi and you have Karachi address written on your CNIC so we assume that you’ll get your Driving License at your address in Karachi.

When did the old Driving License expired? They will probably charge you late fee that is calculated on annual basis. Please ask him to visit nearest office branch with his Original NIC and Old Driving License book. The officers are helpful and they will guide your father about the necessary steps.

Have you lodged FIR for your OLD driving license? Please visit your nearest license branch with your original CNIC and copy of FIR. They will calculate the penalty amount from 2015 to 2018 and tell you total fee. There will be no driving license test again but you’ll need to pass the medical (eye) test.

We are giving an Estimated Amount for renewal of your Car+Motorcycle license:-
Rs.1125 Fee for years 2011, 2012 & 2013
Rs.1125 Fee for years 2014, 2015 & 2016
Rs.1125 Fee for years 2017 & 2018 (Here two years have passed, but fee will be charged for 3 years)
Rs.3375 Total (This is estimated amount. You can expect between Rs.3000 to Rs.4000)
After paying above penalty, you will be issued a new license for 3 years for which you will pay further Rs.1125 for years 2018, 2019 & 2020.
